I guess the author would call me crazy for having an out of body experience. He also needs to look around the world and wonder how it all came to be. An accident? The ancients embraced their spirituality and developed much higher thought than previously believed. It is time for us to embrace our spirituality if we truly want to evolve. The truth is in science, religion, and everything else. One just has to look for it.

The thing with religion is that each essentially have the same theme: be kind and charitable to fellow human beings, respect nature, and do one of the many existential, calming exercises (praying, meditation, etc.). The rest is basically the cultural adaptation to the blanks, so as to present it to the people in a way that they can understand the reason to do those things. The problem we face is that these lessons in the texts are lost for us, hence the total mockery we see of religiosity itself. Everyone knows at face value that spirituality exists, otherwise these religions wouldn't exist. the scientific community's explanation, that is that religion is merely an excuse for natural events, doesn't exactly fly when we consider the intertwined nature of science and religion. Look at the Aztecs and Mayans for the best example of this.

All religions have common truths hidden in them. I do not endorse dogma or religions that are formed and controlled by men, but by spirituality. I have a soul, and this universe and our world were created by an intelligent and beautiful life force. I call her the Mother Goddess, but some people have other names for it. If you want to be an atheist or completely logical, that is your right. I have a problem with some atheists as they seem to be better than everyone else. They mock people's beliefs and act like they know it all, when they do not have ANY answers. Look for the truth yourself, and come up with your own conclusions. That is what the Gnostics did, and they were kicked out of the Christian mainstream for their belief that you did not need a priest to help you. Mr Dawkins came to his conclusions by his experiences, and I come to my conclusions by my experiences. Both could not be any opposite of each other, but I respect him and what he believes in. I will not try to convert him, or cajole him, and I expect not to be converted either.

If you were able to wipe everyone's mind of religion and God...in no time someone would find themselves wondering how we all got here, who or what created us? why? and if man can't figure it all out, he or she will think its all done by some supernatural magic and up will pop a god like character.........this I believe is what happened back then and if you were to remove all items linked to a religion and all minds of gods...it wouldn't be long before man does it all again

I assume science is not in this equation.
Right now, in my opinion, science is viewed favorably because the smarter people in society are typically much more knowledgeable about science than they are of the Bible. This then puts a wedge between social classes (the poor and the rich) and this then is turned into a God vs. Science issue. |

It is believed Neanderthal Man was in tune with his spirituality. Many ancient alters were found and carvings of Mother Goddesses hundreds of thousands of years old have been found.
Our latest surge in knowledge is much more materialistic, and the spiritual aspect of who we are is being thrown out, or worse, made into a joke. Instead of meditation, we have iPods and flat panel TVs, and instead of Shamans and other medicine men we have huge pharmaceutical companies. Anyone who questions the status quo is considered a tin foil hat wearing crazy person. (Personally, I wear aluminum foil hats!) |

Sounds like author wants you to be angered about God being "racist, homophobic, etc" He's going a little too extreme with all that name calling. Especially when he repeats "fatherless man", mocking how it's nonsense... along with the virgin birth.
Just a bunch of (biased) opinions I guess.. I might just pick up this book and read it... looks interesting.

It isn't a Supreme Deity that causes all of the problems of racism, war etc; it is human beings who cause the problems. Some do it in the name of their god, and others do it in the name of atheism (Stalin for example). It is dogma (religious and non religious) that we have to watch out for, not spirituality.
