Initial results of a secondary autopsy performed on David Carradine suggest the late actor died of auto-erotic asphyxiation.

The Kill Bill star, 72, was found dead, hanging in the closet of his Bangkok hotel room on Thursday.

Some local reports suggested he committed suicide, while Thai police believe he died accidentally as he took part in a dangerous sex game involving auto-erotic asphyxiation - where victims achieve heightened sexual pleasure by restricting their air supply.

The actor's family requested officers from America's Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) get involved in the case last week (ends05Jun09), urging U.S. authorities to assist the local police investigation to prove the star had no intention of killing himself.

And forensic specialist Dr. Michael Baden, who was hired by the actor's family to examine Carradine's body in his native America, appears to have found evidence backing up the Thai police findings, reports the New York Post.

The owner of an LA sex shop the Kung Fu legend frequented said he placed a whopping order of lingerie, stockings, bondage equipment and DVDs shortly before his trip to Thailand.

Carradine was found in the wardrobe of his luxury hotel suite in Bangkok last week with a rope around his neck, hands and genitals.

The owner of Susie's Delights in the Los Angeles suburb of Tarzana revealed that 72-year-old Carradine was a regular who shopped in the store a few times a month for several years.

She said Carradine owned almost every piece of bondage equipment that the shop stocked.

The actor is believed to have died last week when his obsession with auto-erotica went tragically wrong.

Carradine visited the shop, which specialises in exotic body wear and steamy videos, three weeks before he left to start work on his latest movie Stretch in Thailand.

She revealed that Carradine was fond of tying himself up in the bedroom of their California ranch, experimented with drowning himself in their swimming pool and liked riding horses bareback while only wearing Speedo swimming trunks.
