Forum Post Count Rules For Signatures And Links

Hello All!

As most of you know, we have had a large problem with spammers lately and have been forced to implement a range of changes to reduce spam.

These are automated robots, spamming to get links. Because of this, we need to eliminate the incentive (links) and clean up the spam users, and move forward banning IPs until they will learn there is no point.

We have some new rules for posting links and sending emails/private messages.

These new rules make it more difficult for spammers and we will refine and add new rules as required and update this thread.

Current Forum Linking and Signature Rules:

- You must have 25 posts to Post Links/Images/e-mails.
- You must have 25 posts before you may SEND PMs.
- You must have 25 posts before you may SEND e-mails.
- No homepage links in user profile. This was being abused majorly, it's gone.
- No links in signatures for now. If you have a link in your signature already, that's fine! Let me think of a way to give trusted people this feature easily. Perhaps we can do special user groups and upgrades with new features. Let me think on this.

If link in signature is the end of the world for you and for some reason you need to change it, contact me OK?

On the bright side, it has got me thinking about user models and moving towards a special user group for the solid contributors with more features!
