That is the title of Frank C Feschino's fascinating account of the Summer of 1952 flying saucer flap, and one of the reactions of the Air Force. Faced in the summer with hundreds of flying saucer sightings (many of them still unknowns in Project Blue Book files), this book traces the many encounters and dog fights between USAF fighters and flying saucers. It seems worthy of a science fiction movie from the 1950s, but each case is well documented. Mr Feschino digs deep into archives and retrieves records using the Freedom of Information Act to back up the book.
Also on tap is the infamous Flatwoods Monster case from Braxton County West Virginia, which ties into the Summer of Saucers. This book is quite large and very detailed, unlike some of the usually short books that leaves me wanting for more. Mr Feschino has really improved his writing skills since his first book "The Braxton County Monster". If one is looking for a summer read, they have found it in this book. |
