Saw this posted on the Los Angeles Examiner Website:
"The video shows what looks to be three UFOs buzzing a power plant . Look close at the end of the video and you can see the shadows of the craft moving along the ground which gives much more authenticity to the occurrence as being the real deal." See it here: http://www.smalllinks.com/CWC Then upon further investigation it turns out its a hoax - as seen on here: http://www.extremedigitalpro.com Just goes to show you that digital image manipulation has been at the point where it is almost impossible to determine what's real and what's fake. |

That is the problem of the digital age. It is way too easy to hoax these types of things.

Seeing this footage I can see why people are quick to believe what they are seeing is something really unusual. It's a shame that this kind of stunt dilutes real research and stokes the coals of doubt and ridicule.

For videos, one has to really look at other parts to detect if there is something not kosher with the video. Pixels are one thing to look at, but shadows and backgrounds are where one may find inconsistencies in the videos.
Also, the source of the video is helpful to see if it is someone who has posted before. If the video has no background noise or natural sound, I tend to question it. |

I agree, there are many telltale signs that you can pick out - but it is really getting harder and harder!

You just have to nip pick such a video to death. first of all you need to look at the quantity. you need to look at shadows, lighting, movements, cloned elements (for example trees, that look exactly the same) and maybe some more things, that I didn't mentioned.
Than you have to look at the quality of the video: is the video in a watchable definition; is there a natural explanation to the happenings showed in the particular video; and last but not least you have to research the source of the material. That's how I work my way through an UFO video and I think it's good enough for a hobby ufologist such as me. |

The audio is very telling as well. Is it silent or can you hear everything including the exasperation of the person filming. Also if someone just "happens" to be randomly filming something that really no one would be filming and a ufo "happens" to fly into view. All suspect.

Many of the UFO videos out there do not have any sound, or have music attached to it. That should always be a red flag.
