The above claim is from the driver of the lorry, Peter Tortill:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencete...ys-driver.html This is one of the more famous cases, and there is another site that claims the airmen made up the story later on about approaching the actual craft. (I will look for that link as it was a while back ago.) The witnesses themselves have stuck to their story, but it does seem that a truck did catch fire during the incident. If what the SPs claim is true, then they walked up to a hovering craft and touched it. Since they have not made any money on their stories, I do not see any reason for them to make this story up. (Unless they speak at UFO conventions, where they are paid a fee. If someone knows that they do speak at such events, let us know.) |

Here is a link to a skeptic's account of what happened:
http://www.ianridpath.com/ufo/rendlesham.htm It is actually a pretty interesting read. Statement about Penniston's sighting: 2. The only witness to claim he saw a mechanical object was Penniston. The others have only ever described seeing lights. During the incident, Penniston estimated that he got no closer than about 50 metres to the object and that every time he tried to approach it, it moved ahead of him. This was relayed at the time by radio to his supervisor, Master Sergeant Chandler, who confirms it in his own statement. There was no mention at the time of the much closer and extended encounter that Penniston has since claimed (see Point 4). Last edited by kidflash2008; 09-09-2009 at 12:05 PM. Reason: emended |

it's kinda spooky to listen to , especially at the end. "beaming lights to the ground",
you have to wonder why have these tapes only just been released?!
