Ok so not like its the end of the world or anything but i went to my local library today cause my dad was going on a walk and I wanted to go read at the library while he went on his walk. So I did. I was gonna try and find some books on ufo's , aliens, or conspiracies and I couldn't find a single book in the library on the subject. I went and looked at ancient civilization's, astronomy, and the paranormal/new age/religion section. All were bone dry. I could only find stuff in the paranormal section on like ghosts and big foot. But absolutely nothing on aliens , ufos or the like. I was starting to wonder if maybe libraries censor that kind of stuff. Like maybe they don't allow donations of that sort. So i kinda thought it was a little suspicious. But then i tried to be reasonable and thought, well some on the topic of ancient civs and ufos can run a hefty price so i figured maybe the people that buy these books just dont donate them to libraries cause they were expensive and maybe they think there better off just keeping them so i tired to think of some sort of logic reason why my library didnt have any books on the topics. With that said I was just curious if any of you have been to your local libraries of late and noticed if they had any books on the topics? I guess it wouldn't really surprise me if your libraries didn't have any books on it either.

American libraries lack a lot of fields of study. I tried to find philosophical books or something of that ilk, nothing in my local library. No Plato, Descartes, or even Nietzsche. I'd have to go to the county library or the local colleges to get some semblance of a good selection of books. The local library apparently is just trying to get kids to read, as the shelves are filled with mostly fiction books or simple topics like animals or technology. Interestingly, there is a section for religion there. The level of reading for most of the material would seem to be extremely low too, reflecting the average level of literacy in the nation (sixth grade reading level). Community colleges though apparently are pretty lacking in their services too, from what I hear. I live in Maryland, so I happen to live near one of the best community colleges around plus old Western Maryland College (now McDaniel).

Ive found olfer libraries have some books on it, obviously because they are going to have had more time to accumulate different books on different topics. A newer library would have more modern stuff and pop stuff, but you will find new library's still have budgets to order suggested books.
